Subject: (7) NON-MOTORIZED RES EXHAUST DAMPERS
For NON-MOTORIZED DAMPERS Seasons-4's replacement equipment (RES) exhaust damper design guideline is as follows:
Without exhaust/return fans (Gravity Exhaust)
Up to and including 1500 FPM face velocity: Arrow model 500-CB damper
Above 1500 FPM face velocity: Arrow model 655 damper
With exhaust or return fan (Powered Exhaust)
All face velocities: Arrow model 655 damper
Where airfoil blades are required (with powered exhaust ONLY)*
All face velocities: Arrow model 800 "Arrow-Foil"
Design velocity extremes are 1000 to 1800 FPM. 1500 FPM is generally the target for the design.
*Note that this damper is not recommended. Airfoil blades are a waste on exhaust dampers. This particular damper will not open against gravity exhaust. POWERED EXHAUST IS REQUIRED.
