Subject:   (8) CABINET—LOCATION OF OA DAMPER, VESTIBULE UNITS

On standard airflow single path units with vestibules, try to place the OA damper on the side of the unit opposite the control panel. This is normally the side on which most of the doors are located. This allows access to the locking quadrant or actuator through the filter door, thus eliminating the need for a door at the RA section expressly for this purpose. Without the door, we also nullify the need for RA burglar bars. Locating the damper on the side opposite the control panel also allows a clear path for the electrical conduit to run from the panel down that side of the unit without interference from the OA damper. If the doors are on the other side of the unit or a special situation exists, try to place the OA damper in such a way as to allow damper access through the filter door and eliminate the need for the extra door.
