All twin forward curve blower assemblies shall be designed to require only two outboard bearings. The required shaft size may be determined using the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Delhi</st1:city></st1:place> shaft selection program. Single forward curve blowers shall be purchased as an assembly from the manufacturer whenever possible. All forward curve blowers shall be class II construction. All forward curve blowers shall use “grip-tite” adapter bearings. Set-screw bearings shall no longer be used.
Whenever using a forward curve blower to discharge into a coil (or filters, heating device, etc.) with a face area larger than the fan outlet area, a perforated baffle plate on the outlet of the blower should be used to better distribute airflow. Baffle plates are to be shown on the dimensional data drawings and should also be listed in the DRAFTING NOTES section of the Engineering file ACTIVITY LOG. Blowers should also be located with a clearance of at least one blower wheel diameter to the blower inlet. Outlet clearances should be as large as possible, with a typical minimum of 1.5 to 2 times the blower wheel diameter.
In some applications it may be necessary to make exceptions to the above guidelines. All exceptions shall be approved by the engineering manager.
