Subject: PE Schedule Guidelines

 

The recent automation that we were finally able to add to the PE Schedule has been a huge game changer. Clay and I are now able to review jobs, add new jobs to the schedule and make start date updates about 3 to 4 times faster and more accurate than before. The only down side is the fact that, since it is a shared excel file, our major updates can easily get overwritten by other user updates. As we discussed in last week’s meeting, please do not keep the PE Schedule open for an extended period of time. If you do have it open for a long time, do not save the file. The new approach really needs to be open the file, get what you need, then get out.

We would like to start following these guidelines until we are able to incorporate the PE Schedule directly into the ERP.

I appreciate your help and patience with this. Honestly, you can keep the file open all day, but just don’t save it. I am try to figure out why the PE Schedule keeps resetting the major scheduling changes, so with all of us following these few procedures, hopefully we can figure out why. I know Excel is not the ideal platform for the department scheduling, but it is the best thing we have right now and really easy to use. Could be worse; could be in Pro-5.
